Mapping table
Each Latin key produces its Arabic letter. Lowercase letters give the common consonants, CAPITALS give the emphatic and guttural ones, and compound sounds are written with two letters. As in unvocalized Arabic, short vowels are not written: only the last vowel of the word, when it ends the word or comes before its final consonant, is written as a long letter, and a final "an" is written with the tanwin ("shukran" gives "شكرًا").
